Getting to see a beautiful car on the road is an enjoyable experience, but one that doesn’t happen as often as many of us would like. After all, it’s not as if the general public are driving around mint condition vintage vehicles on their commute to work, or doing the weekly shop in a Rolls-Royce Ghost. To see amazing vehicles like these in the flesh usually means heading to a special car event. We’ve taken a look at some of the biggest car events all over Britain that are a must see for motoring fans throughout the year, whether you’re a fan of a particular brand of car or simply love all things four-wheeled.
1.Enfield Pageant of Motoring
This event features large displays of trucks, cars and motorcycles, as well as entries from the Whitewebbs Museum of Transport. Among this mix of vehicles will be an assortment of American and British classic cars, as well as historic commercial and passenger vehicles. The event will take place from the 25th of May to the 27th, at The Playing Fields, Great Cambridge Road, Enfield, Middlesex. The visual delights will be accompanied by live music and over 400 autojumble stalls for you to browse.
2.Classic Car Spectacular
This three day event takes place in Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire, beginning on the 2nd of June and ending on the 4th. Aiming to celebrate the ‘golden age of motoring’ the event is a Jubilee special with 2,000 cars on display from 80 car clubs. This will be a family event, with suitable attractions, an Italian supercar feature, a two-day autojumble and a wide selection of general trade stalls.
3.Brooklands Double Twelve Motorsport Festival
This year you can expect to see the biggest motoring competition held at Brooklands since 1939, when 144 classic and vintage cars will take part in a concours d’elegance and various driving challenges. Up to 100 pre-war cars will also compete in the Double Twelve Speed Trials at the Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, Surrey, taking place from the 16th to the 17th of June.
4.Goodwood Festival of Speed
The Festival of Speed is one of the most well-known car festivals in the country and calls itself the largest and most famous of all the shows in the motoring events calendar. It’s held every year at the Goodwood Estate in Chichester during the summer, this year beginning on the 30th June and ending on the 2nd of July. This extravaganza is centred around celebrating motorsport, showing Edwardian classic cars as well as F1 champions. For an injection of novelty, there are real-life replicas of Wacky Races cars and the famous Hill Climb occurs every year.
5.Formula 1 British Grand Prix
Held at the Silverstone Race Track, the British Grand Prix is an impressive sight to behold. The event lasts for three days over the weekend beginning the 14th of July and is a unique opportunity to see some of the world’s best cars and drivers competing head to head. If you’re a real petrolhead you could book a Pit Walk, meaning you get to walk up to the cars in the pit and explore them fully.
