Rybrook Jaguar – Apprentices Update Q1

Ajay Singh – Huddersfield Jaguar

On my first day at work I was nervous about working on cars. However when I got there I met my mentor Paul who showed me the basics of the cars such as removing the under tray, draining the oil, changing an oil filter, checking the tyre pressure and much more.

Within a few days I went to the induction day at Birmingham were I was introduced to the automotive industry and showed the history of Jaguar Land Rover. We did lots of activity which got our brains into gear. When I got back from Birmingham I was more confident about the history of the company and how they go above and beyond.

I have now also completed my first week training at the Jaguar Land Rover academy. Which was great because I haven't used tools that often so it was a great opportunity for me to expand my knowledge on how to use them correctly.

I’m now really looking forward to my next block of training in March and learning more with Paul.

Dean Wardman – Halifax Land Rover

On my first day at Rybrook Halifax Land Rover I met my mentor Simon and everyone made me feel really welcome.

I then went on the welcome to Land Rover day where I learned a lot more about Jaguar Land Rover a whole and their aims and expectations from their employees and for their customers.

I’ve done my first full week of training at the academy and on the first day of training we were shown round the training centre, I enjoyed doing the activities in the workshop during my training and am looking forward to learning more now I’m back in the workshop at Rybrook.

Luke Tantram - Huddersfield Land Rover

I arrived on my first day in a suit and quickly realised I should have been dressed ready to work in the workshop! I was quite nervous, but I got on with everyone and I spent my first day learning some of the office side of things which was interesting.

The induction day was great and I went with my dad – we were given loads of information and the speakers were really interesting. The food was really good too! They told us about what to expect in the training blocks and I’m really looking forward to the some of the team building event that include camping.

I really enjoyed my first week training block, we have a really good trainer who engages with everyone and we learnt a lot about safety in the workshop.

Back at the dealership my mentor Adam is teaching me all aspects of servicing and repairing the Land Rovers.
