Only one thing could make the roar of the Continental GT’s monstrous V8 engine sound even more exciting: hearing it from the outside. And for those whose grand tour deserves nothing less than a heart-pumping soundtrack, there is no experience quite as intense as driving the new Continental GT V8 S Convertible.
The new Continental GT V8 S Convertible brings a sleek and exhilarating edge to the Continental, a grand tourer now well established in the vanguard of luxury car design. Like its hard-topped sibling, the Continental GT V8 S Convertible combines truly incredible performance and agility with plenty of space for passengers and luggage. When you take to the road with the top down, however, the importance of practical details dwindles. Exhilaration is what matters.
Complete with a redesigned front spoiler and rear diffuser, for a sportier and more confident stance, and a new, dynamically-styled fender badge that is sure to become a future design classic, the new V8 S Convertible is an irresistible proposition for every journey.
But this supercar performance doesn’t mean a compromise on comfort. Thanks to the four layer construction of its retractable roof, the GT Convertible accommodates up to four people with the hood up in the same unflustered refinement as its hard-topped sibling.
Beneath the bonnet of the Continental GT V8 S Convertible beats a monstrous heart: a 4.0 litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine generating 680 Newton metres (502 lb.ft) of torque.
Despite its muscular powerplant, the Continental GT V8 S Convertible is remarkably efficient with CO2 emissions at a mere 258 g/km, due in no small part to the use of variable displacement.
Additionally, for the ultimate in efficient performance, the engineering team introduced hot-side inside (HSI) technology: in essence, a method of reducing both energy wastage and engine weight by mounting the turbochargers within the ‘V’ of the V8 cylinder arrangement. The result of all this innovation is a Continental GT V8 S Convertible with improved power performance, with no penalty to fuel economy or emissions.
The Continental GT V8 S Convertible brings a sleek and sporty edge to the Continental family, a grand tourer now well established in the vanguard of luxury car design. Beluga gloss body trim and door mirrors* complement the newly designed 20” open-spoke wheels, bringing a promise of supreme performance before you even start the engine.
Meanwhile, Beluga-gloss lower body styling features – front splitter, side sills and rear diffuser – deliver more than mere aesthetics. They improve the car’s aerodynamics by reducing front-end lift, improving stability at higher speeds.
From the familiar Bentley powerline running down the side of the car to its sleek electric roof, the Continental GT V8 S Convertible looks every bit as sophisticated as any convertible Bentley – but with the added sporting edge that comes from a series of new S model exterior details.
The look is complemented by newly designed 20” open-spoke wheels and red painted brake callipers. Beluga gloss door mirrors to match the lower body details and dark tint lamps to the front and rear are new options on the GT V8 S Convertible that add additional edge to the exterior aesthetic.
Whether the roof position is up or down, the Bentley Continental GT V8 S Convertible cuts a striking silhouette. Yet when this beautiful grand tourer is in full flight, its observers may only get a fleeting glimpse. There’s also a stunning new front face and rear spoiler that bites the rear wheels into every corner, ensuring more intensity from every drive.
To herald these new design statements, new all-bright fender vents sit proudly behind the front wheels.
The roof of the Continental GT V8 S Convertible is so well insulated that, with the top up, it’s easy to believe you’re in a coupé. With the top down, however, there are several features designed specifically to enhance the thrill of open-top grand touring.
Heated front seats are a standard feature whereas integrated neck warmers, a wind deflector and a heated steering wheel are all included in the All Seasons Specification package or as separate options, taking the chill off any cold-weather drive.
