Good News for the new Volvo V60 as it has been awarded the highest distinction for crash testing. With a massive 5 star rating by Euro NCAP, the standard safety systems on the Volvo V60 and S60 saloon models include dual stage driver and passenger airbags, dynamic stability and traction control, as well as Volvos award winning technology- City Safety feature that can reduce or entirely avoid a rear end impact up to 19mph by automatically applying the brakes.
As well as a whole host of safety features both new Volvo cars have the world’s first Pedestrian Detection technology- a system that uses radar and a camera mounted to the front of the car. The radar checks for moving pedestrians in front of the car and automatically applies the brakes for the driver, if there is not a quick response.
Regional President of Volvo Car UK has stated that the latest round of crash test results is great news for Volvo, and that this award demonstrates a continued commitment to optimising the safety of Volvo vehicles.
Launched in 2010, the V60 and S60 offer owners the highest level of driving dynamics, class leading safety and very low fuel economy of up to 65.7mpg and 114g/km CO2 emissions for the Volvo S60, and 119g/km for the V60.
