The new McLaren MP4-12C is one of the ‘core’ performers for the sports car range offering two front row seats to a powerful driving experience. The new McLaren is the first of any car to feature a one-piece carbon fibre structure ‘the Carbon Monocell’- and has followed similar design principals to that of McLarens Formula 1 cars.

Everything about the new McLaren is in place for a reason from every exterior line, interior surface and down to the functional details like the bespoke air conditioning unit and dramatic air scoops on the sides of the car. These have both been moved to either outside the cockpit for extra room driver and passenger comfort or adjacent to the engine in order to keep the car narrow and lightweight. Both of these attributes are unique to sports car design, adding engineering solutions to design personality.  

According to Ron Dennis, McLarens Automotive Chairman, the MP4-12C offers a new approach to a strong market for high performing sports models, setting a competitive standard against the likes of the Ferrari F458, Lamborghini Gallardo, Porshe 911 Turbo, Bentley Continental GT and the Aston Martin DB9.
